Huang ShiDi

Associate Professor Department of Mechanics and Aerospace Engineering

Dr. Shi-Di Huang had his undergraduate study at Fudan University, majoring in Physics. After obtaining his Bachelor degree in 2009, he went to the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) to pursue his Ph.D degree and then worked as a postdoc. in CUHK after graduating in 2014. He joined Southern University of Science and Technology in 2017. His research covers a wide variety of topics, including turbulence research and its applications in engineering and physical oceanography, dynamics and statistical behaviors of plankton and active particles, non-linear dynamics and complex network.

Research fields include:

-Turbulence: Boundary layer, Coherent Structure, Small-scale Statistics, Engineering Applications;

-Physical Oceanography: Diapycnal Mixing, River Plumes, Abyssal Circulation and Waterfall, Hydrothermal, Wave-Vortex Interactions;

-Active Matter (Plankton & Micro-Robot): Swimming Dynamics, Collective Motion, Hydrodynamic Interaction, Environmental Response;

-Others: Nonlinear Dynamics, Complex Networks.
